Kyle Meadows ~ Hammered Dulcimer: Bio

I was born in a little log cabin-- no, wait! that's where I live now. I was born in a hospital in North Carolina and raised on military bases in the Philippines, Florida and South Carolina. I have played instruments most of my life, starting with the piano at age five.
After working as a scientist, wallpaper dealer, potter, teacher and more, I realized I enjoy playing music more than anything else and have been doing so full time for nearly 20 years. I play for a variety of events including festivals, parties, dinners, weddings, receptions and at a variety of venues including schools, churches, bookstores, cafes, museums, parks, art galleries, libraries, homes and businesses.
I play mostly traditional Celtic and American music but can include some modern tunes as well, so the selections can range from eighteenth century Irish music to the Beatles. I have several recordings, most recently Comfort and Joy, a collection of peaceful holiday tunes, both traditional and modern, featuring Celtic harpist Tisa McGraw.
I now live in a crooked farmhouse in northern Kentucky with a talented, beautiful, grimy blacksmith, (my wife) and a 14-year old attorney, adept at impersonating Louis Armstrong, Sean Connery, Jack Sparrow and Elmo, (my son) and for part of the year, a fabulous polychromatically stained and tireless silk-artist (my mother - see "My Mom's Art!" tab above), all of whom I love very much and am lucky to have in my life.
